During this period we have procured a fleet of 10 Lantrack 1200 VSAT trailers which are deployed throughout a diverse area of regional Queensland. The trailers are used predominately for drilling and exploration work, providing the primary method of voice and data communications into the corporate network.

The trailers fulfil a number of needs in our organisation wherever communications requirements are required. The trailers provide a Cisco WCS based wireless network into the field providing a seamless extension of our corporate network including 3rd party internet access at rig locations.

A Cisco and Riverbed solution interconnects into our corporate WAN. Video conferencing and VoIP are delivered using a combination of Microsoft Lync and Cisco UCS/Call Manager. Riverbed Steelhead WAN accelerator devices optimize VSAT link performance by data compression and protocol flow optimization mechanisms.

The trailers provide a guaranteed communications solution to our rigs, especially the new series of intelligent SCADA rigs developed in conjunction with our joint venture partners.

In over 18 months of operation in harsh environments, the trailers have performed to expectations without fault. The key to their success with our drilling crews is simplicity of operation - no technical knowledge is required by the rig crews to operate.

Access to operational areas is predominately via unsealed 4WD access roads through dusty/muddy environments. Operational temperatures range from below zero to exceeding 40 degrees.

Lansat Pty Ltd, formally known as Landwide, have been very co-operative in modifying aspects of the trailer to suit our operational requirements and have taken on board and included operational efficiency ideas into the design.
